Is Obama a uniter or divider?
When the President was elected he promised to represent and unite all Americans. In his words there was no "red" or "blue" America but the United States of America. What has happened lately? Now you get from his speeches an "us" versus "them" mindset. Class warfare between rich and poor, Democrats vs Republicans, liberals vs conservatives, Tea Party vs every one else. The tone in Washington is worse off now because the POTUS is dividing this country with his rhetoric. This is unpresidential and corrosive to our democracy and country.

The death of border patrol agent Brian Terry by the illegal act of sending weapons to Mexican drug cartels authorized and approved by the POTUS and Attorney General Eric Holder is their Iran-Contra moment.

President scares the country
In a speech tonight the POTUS once again scared the country with dire predictions of doom and gloom if Americans don't support the Democratic plan for raising the debt ceiling. He held hostage social security checks for seniors and again blamed George W. Bush and House Republicans. He called for raising taxes on Americans who make more than $250,000 and he calls them millionaires and billionaires? Because he can't get his way with Republicans he is asking the American people to pressure Congress? Instead of inspiring our elected leaders to work together I believe with this speech the POTUS has demagogued and poisoned the well for any goodwill and encouraged more gridlock. I predict today that no agreement will be reached by August 2. What an inspirational leader!

OK I agree with the President, let's raise taxes!
I finally see the light. I agree we should be "balanced" and raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires. That would create more "revenue" right? We should also eliminate the tax loopholes for corporate jet owners, hedge fund managers and big oil companies like our President constantly mentions. Let's tax them all at 100%. Add it all up according to experts and we solved ...10 days worth of our 14.3 Trillion dollar debt. And how many jobs did that create Mr. President? I've got an idea...how about doing your job and create new jobs so we can have a bigger tax base and more taxpayers. So I agree with you that would go a long way to increasing revenues and fixing this mess.

Where's the vision?
The President has a duty to set the vision for our country. When John F. Kennedy set the vision to land on the moon he led America with a plan to greatness. As our country is on a course to defaulting for the first time in our history our President has not led or offered a specific plan of his own. I agree with Yale professor David Bromwich that Obama has always preferred the symbolic authority of the grand utterance to the actual authority of a directed policy...protracted moods of extreme abstraction seem to alternate with spasmodic engagement.
End of an era
This morning the space shuttle Atlantis landed, ending 50 years of America sending astronauts in space. In the near future we will have to hitch a ride with the Russians.

Obama forgets his OWN birthday!
In a press conference today, Barack Obama stated his birthday was "in a week" when actually it will be several weeks away on August 4 that he will turn 50. Maybe he should check his birth certificate? He forgot his daughter's birthday last month as well. Let's hope he doesn't forget his wedding anniversary on Oct 3. By the way, he is throwing a huge party/fundraising event for his birthday...the day after our country hits the debt ceiling limit. Ironic.
